Materials You'll Need

1️⃣ BEADS

The cherry and leaf beads are sold as a set here. If purchasing elsewhere, you will need round beads for the cherries and green leaf beads.

2️⃣ HEAD PINS

The length and size depends on the beads you're using. If using our bead set, 21 gauge head pins at least 1.5 inches long work best. Thicken head pins may not fit through the hole of the leaf beads.

3️⃣ JUMP RINGS

All the components are held together with a jump ring. When using our bead set, you will need 21 gauge open jump rings with a minimum outer diameter of 6mm. I recommend using stainless steel jump rings, which are stronger than base metal or even sterling silver.

4️⃣ EARRING COMPONENTS

You will need ear wires or hoops to turn these charms into dangly earrings.

5️⃣ TOOLS

You will need round nose pliers or a one step looper tool to make loops. You will also need two pairs of chain nose pliers to open and close the jump ring.

HELPFUL TIPS

These charms are easy to make, but if you're not experienced with making loops, I suggest practicing with inexpensive base metal head pins, especially if you plan to use sterling silver or gold-filled findings in the finished product.

HOW TO MAKE BEADED CHERRY CHARMS

(PHOTO INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED BELOW WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS)

Straighten the head pins, if necessary. Thread a red bead onto a head pin. Repeat for the second cherry.

Use round nose pliers or the 1-step looper tool to create loops, leaving a portion for the stem. For the small cherries, I leave about 0.25 inches (distance from top of bead to bottom of loop). For the large cherries, I leave about 0.5 inch. To make sure the stems on each cherry are even, I like to measure and make a mark with sharpie. You could also add green bugle beads or seed beads for the "stem" and add the same number for each cherry.

For the small cherries, open the jump ring and thread a leaf, a cherry, the second cherry, and the second leaf in that order. For the large cherries, open the jump ring and thread a cherry, the second cherry, and a leaf in that order. Be careful when adding the leaf bead. You will need to open the jump ring widely. It may take a little finagling to get the leaf onto the jump ring. Don't push too hard and risk ruining the jump ring.

Close the jump ring and attach it to an ear wire or hoop.
