Materials You'll Need

1ļøāƒ£ BEADING THREAD

Nylon beading thread is best for fringe earrings. I'm a fan of Miyuki beading thread.

If you're comfortable with switching thread, you can use Fireline or Wildfire for the square stitch portion and nylon thread for the fringe.

For this specific project, I used green Wildfire 6lb beading thread and smoke Miyuki beading thread.

2ļøāƒ£ BEADING NEEDLE

Size 10 or 12 works great for this project. Big eye beading needles also work well if you're still getting the hang of threading needles.

3ļøāƒ£ EAR WIRES

These are easy to find. Simply search for ear wires. And while ear wires are not shown in the example, they attach to the thread guard.

4ļøāƒ£ THREAD GUARDS

The thread guards provide a secure way to attach ear wires to your beadwork. If you don't have thread guards, you can also simply create a beaded loop.

Thread guards are also known as wire guardians or wire protectors.

5ļøāƒ£ SCISSORS/CUTTERS

6ļøāƒ£ MIYUKI 11/0 SEED BEADS

This design was made using our Hibiscus bead mix. The specific colors are 417 (blue), 407 (red), 2405 (teal), and 4 (gold).

You can use any size 11 Miyuki round seed beads. You will need 4 colors. One for the flower, one for the leaves, one for the background, and one for the center of the flowers. The possibilities are endless!

You'll need a total of 400 beads.

TECHNIQUE(S)

Square stitch is the main bead weaving stitch with this design. This tutorial walks you through the exact technique to make these earrings, but with a different design. Use the same technique, but apply this pattern.

DESIGN SIZE

The finished design is approximately 0.8" inches wide and 2.5" inches tall (not including the thread guard and ear wire).
